AMELIA EARHART was the
first lady of aviation. The first woman to perform the maneuvers of looping the loop, the
first woman to fly solo across the Atalantic, the first pilot - man or woman to fly solo
across the North American Continent.
Earhart was much more than a pilot. She was also an expert designer and a superb mechanic
who could, literally, craft an aeroplane from sheet metal.
Yet while she immersed herself in the purely technical aspects of aviation, she was also
convinced that flying is as much an art as a science, that there is a certain pure poetry
to the act of flying.
Since Earhart's day, there have been changes. The technology has improved by leaps and
bounds borrowing heavily from that used for space exploration. But the commitment that
Earhart and the other pioneers brought to aviation, their discipline and their courage, is
as relevant today as it was half a century ago. Today, Flying is both a science and an
art, a profession that must be studied in a professional academy.
|
Till 1985
there was no school in India to provide the finely honed flying skills and the technical
experience required by modern pilots. The INDIRA GANDHI URAN AKADEMI was established in 1985. The main objective of IGRUA was to improved the
flying training standards in India and to impart Line oriented flying training of
International standards. The akademi is an approved flying training Institute, by the
Director General of Civil Aviation, India. |
 |
|
Fursatganj,
just 18 Kms. away from Raebareli city, the home of the Academy, meets every criterion for
an aviation institute. It enjoys clear, non-foggy weather through most of the year.
Equally important, it is away from the crowded skies used by regular commercial aircrafts.
COURSES OFFERED BY THE AKADEMI -
All courses offered by the INDIRA GANDHI URAN AKADEMI follow the guidelines laid
down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the Directorate General
of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India.
