The efforts made for socio-economic development of villages are much significant in the context of the all-round development of the district. The Government is of the view that rural areas are the focal point of our economic development. The Government is fully endeavoring that the benefit of economic development and social uplift should reach to the inhabitant of rural areas.

Employmet Assurance Scheme(EAS)
This scheme is under implementation since October 2,1993 for providing employment in lean season to those rural people who get employment only during forming seasons. Under it, such men and women, who are willing to do unskilled construction work in lean agriculture season are provided assured employment for a period of at least 100 days.

SWARNJAYANTI GRAMSWARAOZGAR YAOJNA(SGSY)
The objective of SGSY is to bring assisted family above the poverty line within three years, by providing them income-generating assets through a mix of bank credit and subsidy. it would mean ensuringthat the family has a monthly net income of at least Rs.2000. Subject to availability of funds, the effort will be cover 30% of the poor families in each block during the next five years.

Rural SC/ST Drinking Water Scheme
This scheme is being implimented with a view to provide clean drinking water to SC/ST families living in rural areas. Under it, handpumps are installed in the localities predominantly inhabited by Scheduled Cast/Tribes in plain area of the state.

National Bio-Gas Development
The natinal bio-gas development programme is a hundred percent financed programme of Central Govt. of India for development of non-conventional sources of energy. Energy is generated through cattle excrete in rural areas and the gas thus generated is used for cooking purpose. This process also yields highly fertile nitrogen manure which help increase farm productivity.

National Improved 'Chulha' Programme
The object of this programme is to save fuel in rural areas and ward of adverse impact of smoken on the health of women.

Rural Group Life Insurance Scheme
Persons of rural areas between the age group of 20-50 years will be eligible under this Group Insurance Scheme. Persons who are more than 20 years but less than 40 years of age will have to pay a premium of Rs.60 per year and those who are more than 40 years but less than 50 years of age will have to pay Rs.70 per year. Persons living below poverty line will be provided a subsidy of 50 percent which shall be borne equally by the Central & State Govternment. In the event of death of insured persons, who are below 60 years of age, an insurance claim of Rs.5,000 shall be paid to their nominated successors.

Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojna(JGSY)
The main objective of JGSY is to create more beneficial employment opportunities for the unemployed and semi-employed men and women in rural areas. It also includes creation of assets pertaining to comunity and socity, thereby strengthening the economic structure of villages so that the living standard in the rural areas may be improved.

Indira Housing Scheme
The main objective of the scheme is to provide constructed houses free of cast to the released bounded labourers of SC/ST and other villages subsisting below poverty line in rural areas. These houses are provided to houseless families only.
